SOGOzÝv / SOGO AUD is a Tokyo based architecture and design studio headed by Akira Sogo & Mami Sogo / \Ͳ & \Íü. The two do believe that architecture still has plenty room for improvement through analytical approaches to design, fabrication, and construction. SOGO challenges and advances our environment, culture, and lifestyle.
Prior to starting their practice, they used to live in California as a Fulbright grantee, and returned home in 2009. Akira worked for architect Chiaki Arai and handled several projects from public facilities to dense skyscrapers. Most notably Akira was the project architect of Akiha Ward Cultural Center, a public theatre in Niigata City. Mami worked for architect Akira Koyama and handled various projects from individual residences to multitenant buildings. Most notably Mami was the project manager of ZARA Harajuku store, a flagship store of the Spanish brand in Tokyo.
In 2014 their project, "Pencil Building Penthouse", won the Design Prize in the 31st Annual Residential Renovation Competition in Japan from 575 entries.
